The skies of Elephant and Castle have never been so full. As the days pass, new state-of-the-art skyscrapers slowly dwarf the area’s historical buildings and community.
This is the result of a £3bn project that will see Elephant & Castle transformed into a more “desirable” place to live.
However, on closer inspection, the project will only create 600 new “affordable” homes with the remaining 2,388 being reserved for the affluent.
This equates to a figure of just 21%, which in an area home to a large working class community, may represent a cynical gentrification project.
In this report we discover what local residents really think about the current regeneration project, and how they feel it will affect them when completed.
